Pieter Goossens

- violin maker of fine instruments in the Cremonese tradition-

Pieter kleur DEF 9946160-4_edited.jpg

Born in Bruges, I was brought up on history, crafts and the love of classical music.

My passion for the violin arose around the age of 17 during the Dranouter folk festival. Shortly afterwards, I started classical violin lessons at the music school in Bruges.

Creativity runs in the family and so the passion for violin eventually took its final form in the wonderful world of violin making. I learned this beautiful craft at the conservatory (now KASK) in Ghent and obtained the master's degree in 2006.

I then worked as an apprentice for several years in Brussels where I learned to restore, deal with customers and further refine the art of violin making.

As a violin maker, I want to focus on what I really enjoy doing and that includes searching for beauty, perfection and harmony.

Another important point for me is taking time.

When making a new instrument, I find it crucial to discuss all aspects. So the model, appearance and playing comfort can be fully adapted to the musician's wishes.

PENDULUM

"The newest album by accordion player Sara Salvérius featuring the string quartet SunSunSun.

The 4 instruments of the quartet were made especially for this project by Sara's husband, Pieter Goossens.

The goal is to create the perfect sound symbiosis between accordion and strings."
